My transmission lost 3rd and 4th gear(1994 f150 5.0 E4OD). Thanks to this forum it led me to the neutral safety switch. I replaced the switch lined up the adjustment marks and then the truck would not start. I rechecked the alignment and pulled the gear shift back and forth a couple of times and it started. It shifts and runs better than it ever has,but now it won't start with out pulling the shift back and forth and eventually it will start. Any ideas on what I did wrong or whats not adjusted right?
pull it back off and start over.you need to trig the wheels and install it in with the trans in neutral.
now with the trans in N,take a look at the sensor and before sliding it on the trans linkage make sure these are lined up:
then snug up the nut and put your linkage back on.she'll start right up in P and N for ya when ya get it right and with a new sensor the ecm will control D range and you'll have all your gears back.
I've got all my gears now and it will start in P and N,just not consistently. I didn't know if there was something else that I got out of adjustment or maybe a bad switch out of the box.
