Ok so I have a 2003 F-450 7.3L it will crank and not start, I have read a thousand ideas on here and can't wrap my head around this. When cranking, the tach and oil pressure gauge do not move, I have replaced the CPS as it was quite cheap and easy to do. I drained the fuel bowl and turned the ignition on and it fills up. ALso disconnected the hpop sensor and rolled it over, still nothing! Where do I go from here?
Do u get a wait to start light?
How much fuel is in it?
Did it quit running going down the road or did it just not crank one day?
I assume by HPOP sensor, you mean the icp sensor in the front of the driver side head?
I should have asked too if it had a power chip on it. check all the fuses you can find. pcm is coming on to some point to get wts light
Look at the back of the IPR and see if the tin nut is still on. IF it comes off, it will quit running. It can also get dirty inside and not actuate properly. Maybe unplug it and check for voltage with the key on. Beyond those checks, you are gonna have to have a good scanner to read live data to get much further.
Yes, I hooked it up to a heavy duty booster aswell as charged both batteries over night. Scanned it, no codes. However my scanning equip won't give me live feed data.
Not all of these show on tach when cranking. The oil psi should come up on a real long crank but mine sometimes does not go up until its running. If you pull the plug out of the top of the hpop reservoir and there is oil almost to the top, then lpop is working. If reservoir is empty, refill it and try to crank.
It will take a good long crank to get it bled out to crank. If the LPOP went out, it will cause that reservoir to not get replenished. Check to see if its building LPOP psi.
Looks like this one is just about figured out... The lpop is the low pressure oil pump. There is a dummy gauge on the dash that indicates whether or not there is low pressure oil pressure being build. When I say dummy gauge, it simply indicates if there is pressure or not, won't indicate how much.
Also, it's not a bad idea to confirm that the fuel pump is working when the key is first turned on. If not, we have a second rabbit to chase.
You need at least 500 psi injection oil pressure before it will start. If the IPR is stuck or bad you may not get enough pressure. Simple check with AE.
