Just finished a swap from a very beaten Motorcraft 2150 to a decent 2100 for my '75 F100, 302.
The 2100 works pretty well, but I wanted to know if the jets are a bit too big for the stock 302. They're #56. The original 2150 had #52.
With the 2100 I also jumped from the 2150's 1.08 venturis to 1.21. Now the truck pulls much stronger at high RPM, but I'm curious if with the #52 jets could have the same performance without wasting gas?
It's simple enough to switch the jets and experiment. Try the #52 jets and compare the performance. As long as you don't have any pinging, the leaner jets won't hurt.
Do you have any black smoke problems? I have a 1.21 on my 302. It had jets about 56 in it and it smoked black and started hard. I put in some 47/48's (I can't remember which exactly) and that cleared up the problems. Also had to move the accelerator pump rod to hole #2 from hole #4. It's now nice and crisp.
No, I don't have black smoke as far as I could see.
I'ts hard to see as over here the ambient temperatures on the morning and night (when I drive to/from work) are pretty low and I see only the white smoke from water condensation .
I'm suspecting my bowl fuel level is set too low, as I have a power loss when at very low RPM open the throttle fast. Tried the accelerator pump in every setting, and the best driveability is at it's richest (top hole). At higher RPMs accelerates great!
