Yes it can be done. Your tranny whatever it is the bellhousing pattern is going to be different 351m/400 and 429 ,460 share the same bolt pattern look in the 385 series engine forums also.

that was just what I was looking for.
The truck I have has a 302 in it and an automatic trans. Some guy stopped me at the gas station the other day and noticed my 79 Lincoln Town coupe. He said he had one like it and wanted to get rid of it.
I figured I could use it for parts. I am in need of a rear end. I also wondered if the 460 was swapable in with the truck.
It looks so.
