i just got a 1970 f100 with a 390 2v. every time i start the truck it starts ticking and the higher the rpms, the louder and faster it gets. the truck has a little blow back and smokes coming out the breather on the drivers side valve cover. she just started doing this about 3 days ago (ive had the truck a week). i accidentally let a piece of cork from the valve cover gasket get into the port for the pushrod. thank you for any help. have a good day

Welcome to FTE!
How is your oil pressure? Blow-by equals rings. Was anything changed, modified, altered, by-passed , etc. recently that PO may have told you? Did you check for blow-by before you bought it? May have been there before. I suggest putting some Seafoam additive in fresh oil for about 1000 miles then do another oil change. Hopefully truck been sitting for years and rings just stuck.
