Fuel problem
Two weeks ago I'm back at the car and noticed that the rubber fuel line disconnected from the main line. In the car Ford ran a hard plastic line from the tank to the front with it ending just past the crown of the driver's side inner wheel housing. Of course it ended under the speed control box which is why I didn't see it right away.
Connected it and went to work. Still no fuel. Pulled line off the carb and put into container. Cranked engine over and got nothing!!! Ok, not my favorite task on this car but I replaced the fuel pump over the last two days. Just was out cranking the engine and still NO fuel from a tank with 16 gallons in it. Charging battery once again while I ponder what is my next move. Ideas?
Make, model, year. ?
Reason for asking, there may be a fuel filter attached to the frame or next to gas tank. OR even 'in' the gas tank. You might check for a fuel filter and disconnect the line before it to see if gas will flow. Be careful though, you have a bunch of fuel in that tank and it could come pouring out. I had a problem like that some years ago and I disconnected the fuel line at the pump and hit it with some air going back toward the fuel tank. Solved the problem so we could get the car moving, BUT, it wasn't long before the problem returned. It ended up a plugged fuel filter that was mounted on the left side frame, just below the driver door.
Good luck...
NOTE: if you hit the fuel line with air,,, REMOVE the fuel 'fill' cap first or you will just pressurize the fuel tank and it will come blasting back out the line you are blowing air into.
