I want to run the Dashboss app on my Iphone. Which obd2 Bluetooth device are you using with it? I checked the website and don't see just the Bluetooth device. Damn I crap. Had to conform with the rest of the family tho. Any help would be greatly appreciated .

Download the Dashboss App and you are good to go. I use my I Pad and it works great. Just a simple set up.
Since the Bluetooth is built into the Dashboss, it finds you I Phone. No other devices necessary.

The blutooth device for Dashboss is $160. I was hoping to avoid that high cost. I can get a Scanguage for that. I may just use the torque app and a $20 bluetooth from ebay and my android tablet. Just trying to not have a tablet floating around my truck.
Grab a used Android phone off Craigslist. You really only need the GPS out of it (for full functionality of the app) so it wouldn't need to be tied to a service.
I ran my Xoom in my truck with the Torque app running and it's a pain, too large.
Hello Matt. Yeah that sounds like a good plan. This Iphone don't hold a charge just conducting business the last thing I need is to be running another app draining it further. The tablet is simply going to stink. A used phone sounds like a less expensive route. I will go ahead and try the tablet on an up coming trip just to be able to play with the torque app and decide from there. People seem to like it so I'll give it a go.
I checked on my sons iPhone last night and didn't see the Torque app available in the apple app store. I'd be looking for a Droid Razr Maxx or something similar, something slim with a large battery. I just checked locally and it looks like the Razr's are still pretty high priced, but just something to check out.
One other nice thing is that if you already bought the app on your tablet and setup the phone with the same account, you can just download it again without having to pay twice.
Am I missing something? Curious as to what Dash Boss is, I looked at the website and it makes no mention at all of supporting android and the Google Play center lists no app.
Jason asked about Dash Boss for his iPhone but didn't want to spend the money on the BT unit ($160) so I recommended the Torque app. Low and behold, Torque is only available on Android, so I recommended a used Android phone in lieu of his Android tablet.

I guess it depends on what you are trying to accomplish. The Dashboss gives me at least 50 different metrics to measure. Probably more than I will ever use or need, but if you have engine issues, you can diagnose pretty easily.
You can not only measure 12 metrics on one screen (I Pad makes it simple to review while on the road), but I can also record this data, run several different tests, 0-60, 60-0, etc and e-mail results if necessary.
It also works as an Obd tool for diagnosing issues, clearing codes, etc.
I've set mine up so I can see ect's, eot's, and tranny temps side by side, besides other metrics.
Not just another app.
Yeah I had a sense it was more than I wanted. Basically I just wanted to monitor a couple items. More of a toy and yes it would be handy to help read codes and so forth. I have had my eye on a setup for a while. To me its not worth the $160 for either the dashboss or the scanguage. I wanted a cheap solution. My truck sits in the driveway mostly. When I do use my truck I thought it would be nice to have. Im just going to go the Torque route on a cheap android device for now. That looks good enough for my needs/wants at this time. Now if I had a finicky diesel I'd get the best money could buy. There aint tons to monitor with a gasser IMO.
Well I ordered the blue tooth OBD unit and downloaded the torque app tonight. So when it comes in I'll be sure to share my thoughts after setup. Im going to play around with it so I know what settings and guages I want before my trip in 3 weeks. Im impressed with the initial looks.
There's an enhanced Ford setting in the paid app, make sure to tick that to get all the ford gauges. Most of them are for the diesel but some still work on the gassers.
Here's what I wound up with so far. Its been fun tinkering with it. Wish I could get oil temp. Otherwise its pretty cool. Also need a mount of some sort if I'm gonna stick with the tablet. I'm looking forward to "testing" a bit without the family in the truck to see what I can read. Not counting the tablet a mere $20 investment. In the meantime I may look for a used cell too.
