2005 new to me excursion has been fine for 500+ miles and hooked up boat and drove 3 miles. Major loss of power. Edge insight shows zero boost and black smoke coming from exhaust. Anything I can do on the side of the road or am I looking for a tow truck?
Check all CAC boots and Inter cooler for cracks, is the map hose connected, Map is on the passenger side 3 bolts on the heater core box follow the rubber hose to intake manifold look for cracks.
Did the intercooler hose(s) blow off? If so, and you have a few tools handy, you might get yourself back home. if not turbo hoses, might be a bigger challenge, and might need a tow. there are others on here who might know better...
I also have a no boost problem on an 05 X but other problems as well.
Thanks guys. New to diesels here and trying I navigate your posts. Don't see anything that looks like it doesn't belong. Still poking around. Please keep suggestions coming.
with the truck running carefully reach down and feel for major air leak on CAC boot, unless one poped off you will know when you see that, also the CAC intercooler will crack its made of Plastic. passengers side front down low, also check the one under the drivers batterie?
Like Blade said, check Baro, Map and EBP at KOEO and they should all read approx the same. An EBP sensor will cause it. The sensor on the 05 is midway on driver side valve cover. It is used to calculate boost on that year model.

A quick easy way to condemn the EBP sensor would be to disconnect it, and drive it. If boost returns to normal, the EBP sensor is faulty. As far as location on an '05 engine is concerned, it can be located on either the location you mention if it's a late build '05, or on top of the thermostat housing as they are on early engines.
Ugh. Looks like its more than the turbo. Disconnected the boat and tried driving. Not enough power to go over 5 miles an hour and 100 yards. Pulled off, disconnected the battery and drained the rail mounted fuel separator. Tried again and same thing. Now it's parked. Guess a tow truck and trip to the dealer is next. As a side note, the fuel in the fuel tank has been in there for a week and 400 miles. So I do not think its bad fuel. Edge Insight showed several codes, all EGR related and one that said something about minimum turbo boost...
