Back from the fair. Rained all day but there were no crowds as a result so we had a wonderful time with the granddaughter. A word to the wise - the lower fields where they were parking people are a bottomless pit of mud. They had two wreckers winching people out all afternoon. If you go, take a 4wd with good tires. I watched a guy in a Tundra in 4wd bury it to the frame. Needless to say he was a little embarrassed. (He was also from MA and had summer tires with no tread so it wasn't too surprising. School busses were buried as well. The whole field looked like a mud bog!
But the sausage and peppers and onions and fried dough were good. Tomorrow's weather will be better but cool. The rain didn't bother us as all 'cause Scarlett (our 3 year old granddaughter) was all about the animals.
Howdy Jim... It's closer to 5pm now than this morning, can we go home now?

Have fun tomorrow.
Bummer on the rain bit glad you had fun. We are going tomorrow but sounds like I should take the truck. But that only has street tires

The rain worked out great. Scarlett had her raincoat and mud boots so stomping through puddles suited her fine. If she were 13 she probably would have whined but three year olds love mud puddles.
If you have decent tread on the tires you could be OK. Just try to stay close to the road and not get out in the middle of the fields where people have torn it up.
Might also dry out a bit by tomorrow - they were bringing in a lot of material to try to shore up the roads. All the races were canceled today because the track was under water. It rained hard most of the day.
Last year we parked on the north side of the grounds and walked across the foot bridge on the livestock side. Maybe better there. Should be some interesting characters there tomorrow just coming out of the hills for their yearly trip
