HELP!!!

Trying to figure out or understand what is missing or what the PO did to the truck here. Don't think this gap is normal but need your help to figure it out. Did the PO use front finders from another truck or model year or simply the wrong running boards? Any help would be appreciated.

dferrell, you appear to have the wrong rubber between your fender and cowl. It should be about 1/2" thick and much wider.

Those are the kick panels. They come with the headliner kits like this one from Dennis Carpenter.

The kick panels are made of cardboard (and yes they do last quite a long time as long as they are kept dry), and came in gray, brown, and black. When you order from Carpenter's, make sure when you receive the panels that they also sent the clips that hold them on. When I oredered a new set of panels last year, they were missing the clips. I called Carpenter's, and they cheerfully sent me a set.

Be aware that, at least on my '49 F2, there are three push clips, and one screw and washer per panel. The clips go into the top three holes, and the screw and washer go into the bottom hole. The screw and washer are the same as the ones that hold the healiner in, and is used to prevent the panel bottom from being inadvertantly kicked loose. I noticed that my panels from Carpenter's had only the clips this time around, so I had to reuse my old screws (which was OK, as they were still in good shape).
