Recently picked up a 08 F250 with a 6.4 motor and love it! I am interested in tuning it and putting a "chip" in it to get better mpg towing my boat and of course some speed. Anyone information on this topic would be awesome, it's information overload!
Hello and welcome to the forum. This is a great resource to help keep your 6.4L going good. I would suggest you do a little homework by reading some posts on here. These trucks are unlike any previous gas or diesel units you may have encountered. Also, they can be very expensive to repair should you not maintain them. So, search "DPF delete", "H&S" and " Spartan" and read the 6.4L Bible for starters. That should give you the information to get started. Once you know that stuff you will have a better idea what you want to do. I might add that your decisions will be tempered if you have a warranty. Hope this helps. And, oh yeah, if you decide a tuner is right for you there is an H&S mini on the Craig's List in Bozeman MT.

first off modifying your truck is illegal and voids your warranty ie removing dpf cat and egr. with that said i want to rip that crap off because of the damage it can potentialy do to the 6.4 such as fuel in the oil causing the engine to lock up. i heard a 6.4 only costs 8 grand so no big deal right? screw that!!
i am in the same boat welcome aboard! well to me you get what you pay for and i am between spartan and h&s. with h&s you would need to get it to a local speed shop if you wish to delete the dpf cat and egr. but with spartan you would not spartan is still deleting egr cat and dpf in the open. h&s does custom tuning but spartan is following suit soon if i read correctly. there was one guy on here a while back that compared h&s and spartan but the spartan was not updated for a year or more if i remember correctly. so that was not a fair comparison and the h&s was new off of the assembly line. oh and if you buy a spartan used you have to pay a 250.00 dollar fee to transfer to your truck. that is a lot of info but its 2 months of research

I'm pretty sure that is only true if you buy a new H&S from the manufacturer. If you find a used one so long as the truck it was used on has been tuned back to stock it is plug and play. As I said above there is one on Bozeman Craig's, and there are a couple on the H&S web site. Or at least there were yesterday. If you find one at a speed shop what they are doing is buying the "street" version from H&S and converting it to a delete tuner. I'm not promoting either H&S or Spartan, just getting the facts out there. Or at least the facts as I know them, with the EPA involved it may change any day. In fact, I thought I read a post the other day that Spartan was no longer selling direct to the end user, only speed shops. I'm not 100% on that but I think I read it. Both Spartan and H&S have web sites.
