Finally got my 94 Turbo IDI back on the road last week, decided not to do the waterpump while the rad was out and guess what, water pump just crapped out. last week there was alink for a factory water pump for $90ish, anyone remember it or have a good brand to go with, never had luck with parts store pumps in other vechicles
The more I read about how ~bad new parts can be, the more I lean toward forking out the cash for a new OEM replacement or having the original reconditioned by a reputable machinist.
Motorcraft part number should be PW-245. Found a NOS unit on eBay. Guy says it's for a 7.5L (460 gasser) but I think he is mistaken

Mike
well.what did i do here.i looked into where i bought it.was amazon.sure enough motorcraft PW454.purchased this item on September 13, 2012
it fits and has been working.came with instructions about taking care about the shorter bolt locations (cus the longer ones installed there would hit the ip shaft.)
i usually take great care (and don't rely on amazons part finder at all) before buying.i don't recall what the story was about the part numbers.
perhaps the way i had to do it (just guessing) was cross reference the older oem motorcraft part number (of which i have no clue what it was now.not in records.dang.) and came up with the pw454?
the reason i changed mine was because i had a sticking (brand new) motorcraft t-stat.it fooled me.that and my temp gauge.the cyberdyne sending units were effected massively by under hood temps and that tricked me as well (upgraded to auto meters.)
water pump was just fine but oh well.
edit,
you know this just reminded me that i ran into this issue as well with something else and couldn't remember when i was typing this.i just recalled.it was the MLPS (a sensor for the e40d.the upgraded '95 "style" but not '95.) motorcraft referencing was incorrect in many places online but i found the real part i needed via searching here.number dummy i think posted it in this section.all places have it listed incorrectly.it's not for the '95-97 trans.
it also came with the full instructions (and the seals and plastic clip) as to how to upgrade the pin for the newer improved design.
it's like something went way wrong when motorcraft updated the older long part numbers to their now more modern shorter numbers on stuff at many online retailers.so you have to be careful if looking for oem parts.
i don't recall reading that (like i did sourcing my mlps) but this may have been how i found it too (wouldn't surprise me) and just don't remember, but anyway there ya go.factory water pump is pw454.
