I had read up on this quite a while back but I still have some questions regarding the seam above the rear window of the 52 Ford cab.
I think, from what I read, that I may go with a paintable 3m body sealer. Does anybody have any suggestions for a better sealer for this seam?
Also, I know this may be a weird question, but this is my first truck restoration....
Which side does the seam sealer go? Inside or outside?
On my 52 on the inside of the cab you can see remnants of the original sealer. So that's why I'm curious as to whether it goes on the inside or outside. I want to think you apply it on the outside but the remnants on the inner part have me befuzzled.
Any help is always greatly appreciated! Thank you all so much.
I used a good quality autobody seam sealer (Lord Fusor)on the outside. Clean out the seam to bare metal make sure to get all rust and crud, prime with epoxy primer or similar, then seam sealer. Shape it with your finger wetted in water or thinner. This will leave only a faint line when painted. Not necessary to seal the inside unless you want to.
