Hi all,
Wandering through the pic a part yard yesterday, picking up odds and ends for my new project. Came across a complete motor and trans, I believe it is a 7.5? gas motor, unknown trans (didn't want to crawl through the grease and oil to see) i currently have a 5.8 with what the odometer says is 383K. This one showed 79k. similar year mine is 89, this was 90. So the question is, would this be a no brainer swap. My current trans is a C6. If this is an AODE, how would that work out? or should I leave the C6 in. Anyway, any input, thoughts opinions would be welcome. Hey and while I am asking all these questions, what about the rear fuel tank? can I put in an 88 -92 or are those specs different?
89 F250 4x4 single cab
thanks Alan

Reason: forgot description
As I'm sure you're aware, as you have an 89, the ODO only has 5 places. For all you know the 460 in that truck has 379k miles. I think it would be more likely that the 460 has an E4OD behind it if it's an automatic and a ZF5 speed if it's a manual.
A no brainer swap is different in every scenario. If you use the truck to pull heavy loads often, maybe the swap makes sense. But I'd rebuild the 460 before I put it in so that I didn't have to take it back out in 5000 miles when it blows up (that is, if the motor even runs right now). But even if you pull heavy loads, you could put the same amount of money you'd spend on rebuilding the 460 on improvements for your windsor and be ahead in power.
The trans in your truck right now will not mate with the 7.5 at all so that's not an option, you would have to use the trans attached to the junkyard motor which may be a C6 but could also be the computer controlled E4OD, and if it's the latter you would have to add all the control wiring and change the computer in your truck.
The fuel system in these trucks changed in 1990 so you need a tank from an '87-'89.
