iv got a 95 f150 2wd 5 speed that iv been plannin to drop a 351 in.
i decided to just build the old 300 because as yall know its indestructable and no one else has anything like it. i started with the full comp 268h kit and the k&n intake.
i went ahead and put the intake on and started running true dual straight pipes and love it. i havent had the money yet to move on with the cam but that should be this weekend. after the cam im going to shave, port, and polish the head.
is there anything else yall would suggest? or could you give me a hp & tq estimate.
I would suggest 1. Verify with Comp that a 268 cam is computer compatible. And 2. "It'll put out what ever it puts out." fordman75. No way of determining hp and tq of the modifications without before and after dyno pulls. You might find a calculator on * * Automotive Programs by Bowling & Grippo * * to plug in the engine specs and come with a computer projected estimate.
haha im 17 so i live by "it'll go or blow" so i know what youre talkin about. im probably gonna go with a mega squirt set up so im not too worried about the computer. i was just looking to see if there is any tips or tricks to free up some power. thank you though harte! any reply is great since i am very new to building gas burners and to this forum
I'm in the process of building mine and am running a Crane 503901 cam. I'll let you know how she runs in a couple of weeks. The one thing that struck me was the lack of wear on the cylinder walls on my 300. With 356,000 miles it had no ridge. I was able to take some mineral spirits and a paper towel and just wipe the small amount of carbon off the top of each cylinder. The old pistons slid right out. My only wear was the crankshaft bearings. The upper rods were worn to the copper. Thats the reason for the lack of oil pressure. My machinist was able to clean the crank up and bore to a minimum. We couldn't locate any 10 over pistons so we had to bore 20 over. Its about half way back together as I had to stop and build a blaster pot to clean some parts and soda blas some of the aluminum brackets and manifold halves. I'll be finishing the reassembly this weekend. Then its back in the engine compartment. I'm sure ready to get back to driving her on a regular basis. I'm doing tons of stuff to her and its been a fun project.
