How many horses do you think?
I kind of followed Clifford's build up, which would render 300 hp, but toned it down a bit in a few areas, since I'm wanting to save a bit on gas.
Instead of milling .060 off the head, and .030 off the block, to get 10:1 or more compression, I kept my compression at about 9:1. Also, I went with a milder cam, the Isky 256.
Although I did install sbc valves installed, 1.94 intakes, and 1.60 exhaust, along with a pro porting/unshrouding the valves.
Along with that I'm using the Offy DP intake, hedman header with 1 1/2" tubes into two 2 5/8". And an autolite 4100 tweaked by Pony Carbs, with a MSD ignition box, and a dS11 dizzy with TFI coil.
I've been guessing about 250 hp, but I'm sure there's guys on here who would know more than me. What do you think?
Hey, as long as it gets better than my tired 390 (eight in town!, and a big 10 on the freeway!!), then I'm happy.
Wander through that thread...Lots of simulations run on DeskTop Dyno and you should be able to find a combo close to yours. Around five pages worth of reading and I do recall the 256 used in a few different combination's but I don't recall the specifics. Is that the carb with the annular discharge nozzles? It should deliver the goods quite well.
BTW, use stock EFI plugs with the gap opened up to about .050ish. Only a few cents difference in the cost. With that ignition it should be good to go.
if cliffords build is 300 and youre a little bit milder, then yeah, 250 sounds reasonable. I take it thats flywheel. 20% driveline loss would yield 200 rwhp. Not bad i suppose.
