Just put them down and don't ever pick them up again. It's as simple as that.It isn't easy ,but you have to make the committment to stop and stick with it.I liken it to being an alcoholic, not that I am one, once you quit you can't touch them again.
I've been somke free for 3 1/2 yrs.I smoked close to two packs a day,Winstons,Camels,Viceroys. The first 24hrs.were hell but if you can make it 3 days you've got it whipped.I walked and chewed sugarless bubble gum for a while, which seemed to help.
For your health and the people who care about you,I hope you decide to quit.Once you decide and put them down,DON'T pick them back up no matter how tempted and on edge you may be.
It is good to be smoke free and I do feel for those that are still hooked.
Step #1>>>>If you are smoking cigarette's , quit buying them and start buying some type of stinking little cigar(Haveva Tampa stinking Jewels-with that little wooden tip) , even if you don't likem----cig's portability is just too easy and they are just too easy to keep on your person------So every time you reach for a Camel you'll have to fire up that stinking little anti-social cheap cigar which your wife will really love.........you are making it very inconvenient to smoke here, which is the whole point of the cigar thing>>>>>>Step #2 , As your habit becomes more and more Anti social , Your ability to endure longer and longer periods of time without firing up so your need to inhale will diminish and allow your body to adjust itself to alower level of dependence on the addictive properties of nicotine--------All during this process(took me 6 months back in 1990) you must visualize smoking as a stinking , nasty , addictive habit that is ruining your life and you must be willing to take back your freedom and your health and realize that life is great as you want to spend as much time on this earth as possible with the people that you Love and care about----Get Real madd , and make a commitment to LIFE , good luck!!!!!!!!!!fd
It will be 4yrs Thanksgiving that i quit. All i did was put them down, and walked away.Sure,it was rough at first;man, the smell of smoke drove me crazy. But,at last i over came!! Just think of your health and your family; thats what helped me!

I figger since I'm gonna be off the road for a while this would be a good time to do it. The thought of try to quit in the big truck with my beer drinkin buddy as my co-driver (also smoker) just alway's discuraged me. I'm going to physotharapy 3 times a week now and doing
light exersizes and man I can feel it in the lungs. I've been home since my wreck July 29th and I keep making excusses not to do it. I'm
not going to light up tomorrow morning. I'm gonna take the young lad for a swim at the Y. I think hearing some tip's from people I can relate to will help.
Here's a pic of some of the stupid things I do to make my co-pilot
laugh this will show you I really need to quit. But I tried to post

I've heard it's close to an anti angsiety<(spelling) drug I tried it
back in 98 too many side effects for me. I found myself getting
confused alot Doc said to stop taking it.But I know of a few people
it worked like a charm on.
Heres something that may help: get rid of all the ashtrays and lighters in your vehicles, house or where ever you can.

I smoked non filtered Camel for 35 years. When they went to over $25 a carton I said thats it. I tryed on my own. Cold turkey but I stayed dizzy for days. I went to my doctor and she got me Z-Ban. I followed the Z-Ban program for a total of 15 days and have been smoke free for 14 months. After the first year my wife said I was saving enough money by not smoking to buy a bass boat. I sure like my new bass boat better than dirty ash trays.
I went through the patch program and took Welbutryn for a couple of months. It was hard, but I stopped smoking after some oral surgery upon the recommendation of the dentist. I owe that guy, big time. He said that if I quit for a couple of days that my mouth would heal better. I made the couple of days and never went back. It's been 5 1/2 years. I still miss it. I actually enjoy standing next to smokers. Second hand smoke is all I'll allow myself, these days. It's not that hard in Northern California since you can't even smoke in bars (or any other public indoor spaces) any more.
