Today I go fill the truck up with diesel. I go to leave and as I am getting on the skinny pedal and turning left. I hear a buzzing noise from the driver side. It sounds like it is coming from under the dash. I drove around 45 miles around trip and I would hear the "BUZZ" at intermittent times. I could be on the skinny pedal, slowing down, in cruse control, driving 45 or driving 75, a/c on , a/c off. I could not find a reason for it nor do anything to make it BUZZ. I am at a loss here. The noise only lasts a split second. If I were to have the radio on I probably would not hear it. I did just put the TS6 chip in , tuned by KTPerformance. The chip has been awesome. Way better than the superchips programmer, just like yall told me it would be. Thank yall for that. Oh yeah, I have a 2001 F250 4x4 ,auto, extended cab, with 168,000 miles. New HD4r100 trans and transfer case and many new parts due to age and wear. Yalls input would be greatly appreciated.
Well I do not think it is a buzz from under the dash. It is now a grinding to a squelling noise coming from the drivers side wheel. It got loud a couple of times and pulled to the left. Now it has stopped. I wonder if I have a break sticking.
Check to see if the caliper slide pin is frozen. If not, look for up and down play in the front axle at the u joint (pry up and down with a pry bar). Here is an example of no movement with good needle bearings.
The needle bearing is what I'm referring to. It seats into the back of the hub and is only a few bucks. In order to get to it, you'll have to pull the hub off of the knuckle and replace the yellow hub seal Oring. It would be a great time to change the knuckle seal as well, especially if AC defaults to defrost when you hit the 4wd switch. Check out the guzzle link in my sig for more info.
I have the slop as in the video. I replaced all the seal on the outer axles when I did the ball joints. Should I replace them again ? Thanks for the help.

If the seals are new, there's no need to pull the axle shaft out of the knuckle, so the seal should be ok to reuse. The yellow oring must be replaced though.
Could the movement in the video be from the u-joint? I replaced the hub assembly today and still have some play in the shaft. Although now I do not have any slop in the front tires. By the way tugly I looked at the break pads and rotors and do not have any uneven wear. Slid pins look to be working properly.
The movement in that video was eliminated when we replaced the needle bearing. The needle bearing can be replaced separate from the entire hub assembly.
Yes that u joint can go bad just like any others. I've never had to replace mine however. They should be free and not rotating 99% of the time.
