I have a simple question for those of you who own a F250/F350 dually. Actually, it applies to anyone with twin fuel tanks I guess. What are the capacities of the twin fuel tanks in a '95 model F350? I can't remember if one tank is 21 gallons and the other 20, or if both are 21 or not. I am looking at purchasing a '95 F350 crew cab dually, and it has both tanks, and I am trying to get an accurate cost to fill them both up. I have not yet emailed the guy with the truck as the funds to purchase the truck will not be here for another week. Thanks in advance.
there was a kind of rare (it seems) front poly option as well which was 23 gallons.
my truck came with one,got a hole and i did find one just like it at the salvage yard to replace it (i had to fab/cut up tank straps though as i couldn't find ones to fit this odd sized thing.)
your question has nothing specific to dually (pickup) owners as you suspected.
(the dually cab n chassis have a very square shaped rear tank of which iv no idea what size it is,but i don't believe your asking about these anyway.)
Well that is interesting, I could have sworn I read somewhere that they had 20 gallon tanks. Good to know that they don't as it will make it slightly less painful to fill up 37 gallons than 40. Thanks for the quick response.
I would like to see ANY documentation on that. The only poly front tanks I have seen were 18-19 gallon
iv seen nothing at all Brad for documentation with this tank.I thought for sure i was going to just have to patch it,but i found the exact tank just a few towns away (complete with sending unit and everything.) it also came off an idi diesel truck.
this is the tank i use for my fuel up records.as you can see, with 23 gallons i can run her down around 18-20 gallons worth pretty easy without running out of fuel (though iv really pushed the envelope a few times lol.) 1993 ford F250HD DUALLY CONVERSION Gas Mileage (chipper truck) - EcoModder.com
attaching a pic of it but it's not really devoted to it.you can see it has a screw on type sending unit collar.iv got a poly rear tank as well, but that's for sure an aftermarket mts i bought online (rusted sending unit tubes though so iv never used it yet lol.)
it could be an aftermarket tank and i found another idi truck with same aftermarket tank just by odd luck. i really have no way of knowing.
i used car-part.com to find it and they had it listed as a poly.when i arrived i saw it was exactly same as what i had.
edit.oh yeah, though it's been 3 yrs now i didn't recall, but i just went to see if another popped up and i see they have the option.
the local salvage yard had it listed under the plastic 23 gal and it's how i found it.
attaching pic of this option as well but if course you can go there and check 'em out too.
(oh yeah, still easy to find.click all usa and you'll see poly 23 gals listed all over the country.notice most claim to be the diesel too.)
Interesting, that even with 2 tanks, it is only 37.4 gallons total, and my Bronco has one tank that is 32 gallons. Only 5 gallons difference. Too bad I can't put two Bronco tanks in it. Of course, even if that were possible at current prices, it could cost me $256 to fill up both tanks if they were completely empty. A lot of money for fuel.
That would be an idea. I can always carry the tire in the bed. With my right knee problem, getting to the spare tire under the bed would be a major hassle anyway. So maybe I'll try adding a Bronco tank, and increase my fuel capacity to 50 gallons. Then a completely dry fill up would only(?) cost $200. LOL
Its funny, you google 23 gallon fuel tank and you are the only thing to pop up
i just tried google and this guy apparently had one as well that came up from oil burners.net
i recall making a new thread here (on fte) back along as well about sourcing the straps for it as i couldn't find them and no one responded.so i reused one and cut a longer one up.iirc i posted the part number in that thread if i never had to dig it up again lol.pretty rare item apparently.
notice his is a '93 as well.perhaps a one year thing.i dunno man.i know i like it as it's a nice size and she doesn't rust!
37± gallons is more than enough for me, hell I gotta stop and pee way before I can burn all that fuel anyway!!!!
Good point, working through the numbers, I would be able to go 560+ miles on the two tanks that are in it. No way I am sitting in the cab for 10+ hours without making a stop or two, or three.
