Depends on where you are at and how hard he wants to sell them.
Around here if you pull it they can be worth $2-250. If it is handed to you in good shape maybe $3-350.
If you don't plan on shortening it I would be more inclined to use a 1/2 ton Dodge 44. 5x5 1/2, passenger side drop and they came with flattop knuckles already.
Chevy 44 might have flattops and does have passenger side drop but you'll have to swap hubs and rotor or get it redrilled to get the 5x5 1/2 lug pattern.
some clearance issues have been found with HPs on CJs too so they need to be jacked up pretty high.
If you can get ahold of him. His first ad stated he was going to keep the front and rear end plus the carb and battery for himself and the rest of the truck would be scrapped in three days.
Emailed him telling him I was interested in the whole truck minus the parts he mentioned.
No reply.
Here over two weeks later this ad pops up. Apparently the body has been scrapped.
It really bothers me when some jerk parts out/scraps a nice decent complete rig like that. In just the last couple years I've saved 3 Ford trucks from owners that were going to part/scrap them. All have turned out great and one is my daily.
I don't know if others believe in vehicles having a kind if soul, attitude, and/or work ethic, I do. Some will always be trouble and let you down when you need them most. Some will always get the job done no matter what. IMO saved trucks are like pound dogs and most often go deep into the latter category.
The HP44s come up in junkyards fairly regular. Just sold one to a buddy that had broken spiders for $100.
Like the guy above, going in a Ford I'd sell it cheap, anything else and it would have to be an early retirement check for let me to give up something I'd never use. Maybe my brand loyalty is a little overboard. haha
I dunno, on craigslist the guys parting out fords usually only want a couple hundred, but the guys that list them as "HP44" say "I know whats its worth, these are RARE" and say things like "these are super strong upgrades for your jeep wrangler or cherokee!"
So I figure if the jeep guys are all slick rick d bag used car salesman even to each other, then I just want to treat them like I'm in on their "jeep thing." lol
