So here's my problem. Core support and radiator are toast. I have the hd cooling option. What I have a gas support with a 3 row rad with dual electric fans. My question is. Will it work? The truck will now be doing any towing. Mostly a river truck .. Sometimes using it to drive to work. Thanks for your help.
for just driving it empty.......probably.just as long as you have a real water temp gauge.
you likely could never work the truck much at all but it should get you buy ok.
that said,i wouldn't try it.
i dunno what the diff is between a/c and non.a bit wider for the a/c unit? i thought the condenser sat outside it though towards the front,so it could just be it has mounts for it is all.dunno.someone else will have to join in on that one.
as to if it will keep the engine cool.well.i dunno.i know they make the rads 3 core now instead of 4 but they are bigger cores for the diesel.
the gas rad might keep it under 240 F when just running empty cus after all,the reason we have large rads isn't just for looks,it's so we can haul and tow large gross weights.since you wont be doing that,id bet a dollar it woks ok for ya.
if you have the rad and support you really have little to loose but a little time changing the support and setting the rad in to try it.
id like to tell ya it will work fine for your 6-7k lb empty truck cus the diesel rad is designed to cool with upwards of 17-18k gross..........but just don't blame me if it doesn't work lol! coming into September with July and August just about behind us is in your favor as well of course.
