I have a '97 E350 w/7.3l TD. I'm having a torrent of disintegrating door cable ends!
How does one remove the power actuator from the side cargo door? The door panel is off, I can grab the thing, but can not figure out how this thing is 'mounted' It appears to be riveted.
It is indeed riveted to the door shell. You'll need to center punch the rivet stem out of the body, drill the rivet out using a 1/4" bit. While drilling the rivet body might turn with the bit, angling the bit just a small amount and you'll continue to remove material which forms the rivet head.
Once you've managed to remove the rivet head the lock servo should fall free.
