Went back out and looked at mine again with a mirror, there is a slot in the bottom back of the **** that has to be accessed to release the ****, then remove the bezel nut and drop the switch.

JO: As always, thanks for the input. Mine has a slot as well, but it does not access anything. You can take that info to the bank, because I have removed the switch and can see everything now. Since I am replacing that switch, I am not afraid to be a bit rough with it, and I have tried a lot of maneuvers to remove it. The result is: if you want to remove that ****, just pull on it: it will come out with the shaft without damage. Trying to insert a screwdriver in there and prying the **** apart will not allow one to remove it.

After I had the switch out, I disconnected it, so I was then able to ascertain the functions of the wires: The light blue is high, white is low, red is park, and black is ground. Now that I have it disconnected, i will make a test tomorrow to determine whether the motor is coast or dynamic: the latter will not return to park when energized with a 12V probe with the switch disconnected; coast to park, will.
My guess is that it is dynamic: the coast to park ones usually are grounded to the motor case.

It's so great to be able work on these old trucks. Can you imagine trying to do this in a Prius?

BS!

The **** is actually molded to the shaft.
Not as original it isn't.

My switch controls the washer motor as well.
Here are the parts catalog part numbers/applications for the **** & set screw:

C1TF-17513-A .. Windshield Wiper Control ****-Black with White Insert.

1964/66 F100/1100 and etc.

Listed at bottom of the page (left):

358812-S2 .. Screw (**** to Control) No. 8 -32 headless set screw.

1964/72 ALL except P/D (P Series Parcel Delivery) & S/B (School Bus).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And here's the switch that also controls with w/shield wipers (pic at right):

C6TZ-17A553-B .. Windshield Wiper Switch-7 terminals-Used with 2 speed wipers / Marked: C6TB-17A553-B / Obsolete

1966 F100/350 from serial number 760,001 and etc.

The 2 speed switch used on 1964/65's and 1966's before serial number 760,001 (C3TZ-17A553-E) has 4 terminals.

The wiper switch (2C-11500-A - it's a push button) is separate, mounts above the ignition switch. Same switch used as the starter button on ALL 1952/55 trucks.

ND: Thanks again. I think JOW's truck has the same **** as mine: it has a slot at the base, no set screw. My heater controls have set screws, but the ignition and wipers do not. The truck is in new condition, 33000 miles, and all the ***** are a cosmetic match. With the depth of knowledge that you display, I cannot even begin to argue with you, but the old boy I from whom I bought this beauty kept meticulous records, down to the oil filters at Kmart, and there is nothing about a wiper motor/switch replacement, so I will assume that what I have is OEM.

I have the service manual CD for the truck, and to remove the switch it just says to first remove the ****. It does not say how.

Somewhere, in Ford Heaven, some long gone assembly line guy is looking down at us wanting to enter the discussion.

I owned a 1965 F100 for 44 years (bought it new: 3/1965 - sold: 11/2009), came with the same C1TF-17513-A wiper **** and 358812-S2 set screw.

Switch is 17A553 - **** is 17513 - bezel is 18598 - bezel nut is 18545. Set screw for **** not shown.

wiper **** 66f100

I meant to relay this info earlier. After I had removed the **** and moved it to where my failing eyesight could see the mechanism, I could see that there is no setscrew, but there is a slot in the plastic, and surrounding the shaft is a very small clip. Insert a small screwdriver into that slot and move the retaining clip TOWARD THE DASH, and the **** will slide off easily. I know toward the dash seems crazy: the big ones on my 74 and others that I have seen are just the opposite, but that is what worked.

Very easy intermittent wipers

To JOW and all others who are interested, I finally found a relatively easy way to have intermittent wipers in a 66F100. There is a company: revolutionelectronics.com , who make a number of products to improve 60's iron. One of these products is a delay wiper module, which is easy to wire in between your 2 speed wiper switch and harness, and then you use your own stock switch in a unique way to control the wipers. I found Mr Heath to be most helpful and knowledgeable: he knows the wiring of Ford 2 speed switches. It took me about 30 min to install it, since I had to pull the instrument cluster, and the unit works as advertised. The module cost $70 + $6 for postage, and I am very satisfied with my experience with this firm. He designed the module for Mustangs, but due to the electrical noise from wiper motor in the trucks, an additional capacitor is needed. Mr Heath warned me of this beforehand, included the capacitor, and told me where to connect it. It worked just as he said it would. So, bottom line: if you want intermittent wipers in a Slick and don't want the hassle of a boneyard swap, visit revolutionelectronics.com
There are videos there and on youtube that shows the unit in action.

Good deal, I am glad that you found a way to get them in without breaking the bank. I do wonder why Mr. Heath didn't integrate the capacitor in his kit.

I find it a good day to get together with 2-3 more old Ford truck owners and go yarding looking for & pulling parts, making plans. I may have paid $10.00 for mine, it was made for a Ford truck originally. Fun times for me.
