Diesel Cooling Issue

Hi all thanks for my new membership..
My f250 gets hot relatively quickly when charging long grades at about 75mph and while pulling a 5000lb load on mild hills. any help is much appriciated!!!
2000 f250 7.3 diesel.
4" exhaust, afe intake, 35" tires.
i have installed the following in trying to fix it.
new belt (tensioner is good)
new fan clutch
cleaned the radiator fins, intercooler fins, and a/c condensor fins.
new water pump (not motorcraft) i know i should have!
new MC thermostat
radiator flowed fine when i cleaned it... i think!!
new coolant and additive
Edge CTS monitor
my monitor reads consitantly at 197-203 around town (75 degrees outside)
ANY THOUGHTS ARE MUCH APPRICIATED!!!

Your cap may not be holding pressure. Replacements are inexpensive, might try replacing it and see if that helps. Only manual trans trucks have a coolant temp sensor that is monitored by the PCM. If you have an automatic, then the coolant temp value reported to your Edge is invalid.

Maybe a moderator can move this thread to the 7.3 section so more people can help you out even though Greg (shake-n-bake) is one of the best on here.

Hey guys sorry for the late reply work got a hold of me!
it has made it to 225 EOT on my cts... the stoch ECT guage went to red real quick after the cts hit 225.
I have replaced the cap with a stock cap too... ??

i have tried to feel the radiator after the engine is at full operating temp and it seems like the whole thing is evenly hot... there is also no diesel smell in the coolant. i am totally confused now!!

Morning Greg... my CTS is showing me the EOT. I have installed an ECT guage and it also seems to read almost exactly what my EOT is at all times after the engine hits operating temp. thank you for the reply and any further ideas. this truck is bad to the bone except for this one issue!

Maybe need a chemical cooling system flush?

Have you or can you verify the sensor using a laser thermometer?

I do not have a laser Thermometer... is that the one you point at a specific hose and it tells you the temp? i am down to try anything at this point! i like the 213 F250 but i do not want to have a payment. is a chemical flush what a radiator shop might do?

do you think i should try replacing the lower radiator hose? i have read that it will sometimes collapse when under too much pressure... ?? it seems like i can squeeze it relatively easy but i just dont know...

a laser thermometer is IMHO an invaluable tool.
Just point it at something, and it tells you the temperature.
For EG, if the truck is overheated, and you pull over, the rad should be relatively hot, every part of it.
If you found cool spots, it probably means it's plugged up.

You can also track the heat in hoses and such, to verify everything is working as it should be.
You can also use it to make sure the engine doesn't have any major hot spots.
Also to verify the sensors seem to be working.
