1976 F600 Steering Box Identification

Hi guys,

I'm having trouble trying to locate a steering box for our 1976 F600 here at work. I gave the dealer the vin and axle code off the cab but that brought us to a power steering box.

The truck has manual steering and attached are a few pics of the steering box, maybe you guys can identify it or let me know where to look for numbers. Also if anyone knows where I can find the vin # on the frame that would be appreciated as well.

Thanks
-Justin

Just wanted to give an update, from researching online it appears to likely be a TRW/ROSS 35JC29. Hopefully I have luck finding one because adjusting the box does nothing to take up the looseness.

D5TZ-3504-B .. Manual Steering Gearbox / 1973/77 F500 & 1973/79 F600/880 2WD / Obsolete

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has ONE = 800-543-4959.

redheadsteeringgears.com (Seattle WA) can rebuild your gearbox.

The 'adjuster' nut (33943-S) on the gearbox only sets the preload of the sector shaft.

Over tighten it, the box can lock up tight, backing the nut off may not solve anything. Not pleasant!

Thanks Bill!

I just got off the phone with that company that you listed and hopefully
I'll be ordering that box later today. The truck is used about every other day so it would be hard to have the box rebuilt.
