it will bolt up, but the cost of this swap can add up quickly. you have to change a lot of things to get it in.
the engine mounts to frame are different, the exhaaust, the cables, hoses, radiator outlets if not entire radiator, lengthen some wires, shorten others!!! lots of time and can be lots of cash.
been in your shoes and wish I had left it or bought one with V8 already in.

I would sell the Mustang motor and get a 351 from a truck. The motor from the mustang is designed differently than the motor for a truck. The 302 or 351 from a truck will bolt up to your tranny. I would go with the 351 over the 302, because the 302 is not much of an improvement over your 300.

You will still need frame mounts, exhaust and a radiator from a v8 truck. There are also a lot of little things that will nickel and dime you to death.

f150 engine swap

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Jul-02 AT 01:02 PM (EST)]The only differences in the 5.0's in the trucks and the Mustangs are the cams. Actually a stock Mustang cam will help out that 5.0 in that pickup. It has pretty good specs. One other thing to remember is that you may need to get a computer for you truck. As well as deal with the mustang engine not working properly with a speed density system right off the bat. May need a chip or somehting else.
Personally, if your going to go through all of this trouble get/build a 351W for it. You'll be happier with it the long run in terms of power output and gas mileage. I have a 5.0 in my 94 right now and am thinking about swapping in a 351W just for more power for towing the race car around.

Any small block will work. (5.0 or 5.8).

A big block 460 will fit with the right motor mounts and transmission. But it's a lot heavier than the smaller engines and the front springs will need to be upgraded.
