What do YOU use SYNC for?
There are a lot of claims on what this system can do but I have been able to get very little of it to do what they say it will do and the Dealership is of no help. My experience with another maker (Toyota) is just the oposite. The dealer spent hours with my wife on getting her system set up.
BTW, how do I tell if I have MyFord Touch in my truck?

I have voice activated NAV in my 2012 SuperDuty. It looks like I have a USB port and an aux. port. Where is the SD card reader located in the 2012 SuperDuty's if there is one? Once again the information on the SYNC website is ok but not detailed enough to do any good for anybody that wants to know the specifics of their system.
Another thing I find very odd is that there is a lot of hype about the SYNC system (just got out of the car where there was an ad running on the radio advertising the vast abilities of Ford SYNC) and vertually no hands on support at the dealer level. Ford should know that this is not typical of other brands. I have personal experience with other brands (Toyota) dealer that is willing to take hours teaching you the system.

If your vehicle is equipped with MyFord Touch, the SD card should be located inside the center console between the driver and passenger seats. If your vehicle has SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation, there is no SD card - the navigation data is stored on an internal hard drive.
I would encourage you to seek further hands-on training with another dealership in your area. There are SYNC classes that are held periodically, though the locations and availability will vary by region. PM your VIN and home address if you would like any assistance with locating a SYNC class near you.

Let me give you some tips.

If you're having an issue with being able to dial your contacts by name, the first thing to make sure is that your phonebook is downloading into SYNC properly. In order for this to happen, your phone must be compatible with this feature. Which kind of phone do you have?
This last pointer is more of a confirmation. When dialing by name you want to make sure you are saying your contacts' names exactly as they are listed in your phonebook.

Best phones in my opinion are Android based. I have the Motorola Atrix HD.

Upthread you will see comments from a Ford Corporate guy named Antonio. Well, several weeks ago Antonio got involved in trying to resolve my frustrations and went out of his way to contact one of the reps from my local dealer, Folsom Lake Ford, in an effort to help. Within a few hours of Antonio contacting the local dealership I got a call from Rene Larson from Folsom Lake Ford. Long story short, I had my truck in for a normal service today and Rene spent nearly an hour with me in my truck going through the various features of the system. We even sent a mapquest destination via the internet to my truck. This works very slick and easy even for a non techy like me. We also downloaded the SYNC Destinations app to my phone. Another slick feature. Unfortunately we could not get the text messaging system to work with my phone. Probably a compatibility issue.
Now I am very impressed with how the people at the dealership handled this and would like to publicly thank them for the excellent service.

I haven't tried the in truck nav, as I just got it with the 350 dually. I didn't like the nav in the panasonic I had in the 08.
well I DID until it took us thru downtown Chicago at 5pm while we were towing the trailer with my wife driving. ugly.
supposedly, the thing about sync is you can control ALL the functions via voice control. phone, music (radio etc), nav, apps, info (weather, traffic, ... some of these are not free)
edit:
as an example of app control. I just went out and started my Pandora internet music app.
connect with Service/mobile applications, say 'pandora', and I can now control the app with voice commands.
Rand McNally makes a truck/RV nav unit. I use that when towing and the truck when it is just the truck.
I need to pay attention to the road when towing not trying to dish out commands and hit buttons.
I also have bluetooth in my 2008 MDX and it works great to answer the phone. Not so much for other stuff. If I want to dial with it I have to spell out the number or pre-record it with a name. I can't use it for anything else as it won't stream music and pressing the siri button does not go to the car's BT microphone.
So what I do in the F250 with Sync is that I always use siri. "call my wife", "text my wife I will be late 30 minutes", "play playlist country", "add milk to my groceries note". You get the idea. There is nothing sync does that the iphone does not do better so all I need really is a good microphone and sync does that. I also use Apple NAV or Google NAV with the voice directions over the car's speakers.
I think that cars should provide us with good speakers, microphones and screens. It's the always up to date phone job to send stuff to them.
