Which transmission do I have?

Confused how do I determine which transmission I have?
The window stickers says nothing, well to me..

5R110 or 6R140
I looked under the truck and saw a big "6" on the driver side of the transmission but guessing that might mean something else, but maybe not.

Thanks for any assistance.

I just bought a 2002 F250 4x4 automatic PSD. I am trying to figure out if I have the 4 speed or torqshift. Dealership told me it was a 5 speed and that it was rebuilt but don't have any specifics. Is there a way for me to figure it out definitively?
Thank you for any help,
Joe

Does you shifter say overdrive with the off illuminated when you push the button or tow/haul with on illuminated when you push the button. I don't think the 5r110 was till 03 but check.

The shifter has "overdrive" on it. When I push the button, only "OFF" is illuminated. Is it possible they upgraded to the 5r110 a year or 2 ago when they rebuilt it?

It's pretty straight forward. The 6.0L and 6.4L trucks only used the 5R110, and the 7.3L only used the 4R100. So from 2003-2010 the 5R110 was the only automatic used in diesel applications.

the 5R110 is really a 6 speed but it only uses 5 gears depending how cold/warm the tranny is.

True there's an alternate second gear used during warmup, but regardless of temperature the transmision will never shift through all 6.
