Hi all,
My Ex is throwing a P1451 Canister Vent Purge valve issue. Is the canister for the Ex hidden on the frame above the gas tank? I looked around the frame in the back of the truck but am having no luck finding it so I'm guessing ill have to drop the tank to get to it. I've read that wire chafing for this valve could be the problem. Anyone had this same problem? Thanks!
The purge valve is located under the hood, the vent valve is on the canister near the fuel tank. Make certain you're looking at the correct valve per your DTC.
Check that the purge valve's connector is secure and the wires aren't damaged. Check resistance of the valve's coil.

Roger! The code is for the canister vent valve, everything I've read says its electrical. Lots of folks with Fords say that the wires chafe near the canister but on the excursion I cannot find it which is why I'm wondering if its above the gas tank? I cannot see anything around it but I don't want to drop the fuel tank unless I know it's up there.... Anyone else have this problem on their excursion? Thanks!

Are we talking about the charcoal canister ? That thing is under the hood and has a valve right on it.....?
