Morning Walt, as keeper of the 61-66 unofficial database , I have you owning a 62 step but have nothing else. Any chance you could provide all the information off of the warranty plate?

you are probable right. what years should I look for in a donor truck. which would make the best canidate for to supply all the needed part to change over the engine and tranny.

warranty plate???

I will look to see what it has and get back to you on that one. I don't think it still has one unless you are talking Vin # plate. I will go look.

Morning Walt. I used the 300-6 and tranny out of a 73 in my 67 shortbox. I would try and stick with 60's, 70's or early 80's Big Six. I would stay away from the later 80's because of the fuel injection and computers......

I got rid of the huge 4 speed and installed a 3 speed with overdrive from a 60's car and absolutly love it!

my biggest issue is doing motor mounts for a newer engine. the ole 223 mounted to the front frame and then two mounts to the front of the tranny.

I suppose a bracket from LMC will do the trick on the motor mounts and modify the tranny bracket from the donor truck. reuse the radiator for the auto trans.

the pressure line from the tranny to the cooler should it be a hard pipe or can I get away with rubber hoses and hose clamp?

well I pick up my new lumber for the bed today. then into the shop for a good old fashion coating of stain and sealer after some joinery work.

I decided to put on the bed a black deck stain and paint the steel runners black as well the inside of the bed.

I still got to get over to the pick nad pull to gather a spare wheel carrier for underneath. make the appropriate mods to make it work.

Still looking for a donar vehicle for the 300/6 and automatic tranny. I am in no hurry on this. got frame to paint and rust to correct and few dozen other little things to fix before I slide the engine into place as well as take the front clip off.
In for a "penny" in for a pound, i guess. Got all winter to work on her.

Not much has been happening on the refit.

Bed is standing on end with the fenders off. rust has been removed and POR-15 has been painted on in those areas that were rusty. getting ready for reassemble soon

I do have the wood for the bed in the shop, cut to length and it is ready for staining. I still have to drill the holes for all the bolts.

I have finished cleaning up all the bolts and nuts for the bed. What a pain in the backside, wire wheel and patience to get the old paint and rust gone

Somewhere I have misplaced a 1 3/4 inch washer for the top of the bed that holds it to the frame.

Anyone have an extra one laying around.

Which is the best way to assemble the wood in the bed. I was thinking of just standing the bed on end and sticking it all together.

Any suggestions on how to do it?
