it has an ignition, but i dont have keys and the truck wont start. i've narrowed the cause down to either a faulty ignition or a bad neutral safety switch. i took the ignition to a locksmith, but they messed it up somehow and now i can't even get a key in it.

Depending on how long you want the engine to run, all the clues are in this illustration.

Look at Mil1ion's diagrams for the wires, bypass the switch for key-on power and then jump the solenoid to start it.

Mil1ion, maybe the diagram of the back of the key switch that you gave me would get him going.

If I give too much info it it could possibly aid and abet someone into stealing trucks.

To me ,It's like discussing the easy way for people to break into these trucks.

If you email me I can explain how to start the engine when you have no keys.
All you need is access under the hood. (no under-dash wire hacking!)

Run a wire from the battery to the positive side of the ignition coil, then jump the starter solenoid with a screwdriver. Remove the wire from the battery to kill the engine.

Take the lock back to the locksmith. No professional should have messed up that simple lock.

Find another locksmith. Some of them are certified. Get the lock fixed and present the bill to the original locksmith for payment. It may not work but at least you will get the lock fixed.
