what do i have

i bought a 79 f150 today. wanted one for a long time. i have some basic information about the truck but id like to hear what u guys can pick out from a picture. as far as i know it has a 3/4 ton drivetrain, a 4 speed manual transmission, a 460ci engine, and so on. i want to first redo the brakes all the way around as they are pretty soft. i tried bleeding today but snapped off 3 of the 4 bleeder deals... and input would be helpfull.

Picture isn't working. Try using an image hosting website like photobucket and post the IMG code here. If you post the door tag on here we could de-code it for you, but it sounds like the truck has been somewhat modified already.

That's either a Supercab 79 f150 with a 3/4 ton axle swap or it's a Supercab 79 F250. It could also be a 79 F350, can't tell from pic.

Get some pix of the axles and door stickers and list the vin, specifically like the first 4 numbers.

It's a "Frankenstein monster" with parts swapped from lawd only knows what. For one thing, the 460 was not available with a M/T or 4WD until 1983.

Warranty Plate located on the left door face below the latch. VIN stamped on it is known as the Warranty Number .. it's not used for title or registration purposes, as it's too EZ to change.

People replaced damaged left doors with used doors. 99.9% of the time, they failed to install the original Warranty Plates on the replaced doors.

The only VIN that matters is hidden on the frame, it's what DMV/Law Enforcement go by. They compare the hidden frame VIN to the VIN on the title/registration to verify it matches.

Safety Standard Certification Label glued to the left (drivers) side B piller, below the striker plate. Has the VIN, production date and front/rear GVW (some have the tire size) printed on it.

The problem: Label has two layers, outer is clear. When these labels got wet, the outer layer peeled off, taking some/all of the inner layer along with it.

Pic not working for me. Goes round and round and...........

Could we see some pictures? Here is how.

But I got ta say becoming a supporter is the fastest and easiest way to post pics right from
your whatever pad/cell thing or home computer.
Few of us look in the users Gallery or album as you can see by your recent visitors.

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

Go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.

While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
The best photos and videos | Photobucket

Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).

When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).

Your pic will be placed in the post.

Hope that helps.

You have a newer cab (or door) on an older Highboy.

Or the special order 79 f150 Highboy 8 lug with extra slim Dana 60. Might as well have a 390 too.
