A while ago I was asking about carb problems when sitting for extended periods. Still cannot do much however I got my son out and together we pulled and rebuilt the carb then set timing. I let him drive me around and we had fun. He wants to fix the speedo next. I also am making plans for him to paint the interior. He said he wants to learn how to work on cars so we will fix the 54. I want him to learn painting but he's only 15 so maybe I should slow down, Nahh he seems like a sponge wanting to learn.
Pedal to the metal! I wish mine would be more involved. But, he does like to learn about computer (game) programming.
Enjoy your times together. It's perhaps your most important task in life.
Yeah I want to teach him what I know, some would say it's not much LOL. Since I've been sick I look at things different. Youngest really seems to like to drive the truck, he says it drives different than his Mustang GT, he loves the torque of the Y block. So do I. Oh and yes he loves video games too.
Great news about the carb! Keep the boy interested if you can.
That is the reason I made the effort to go to Bonneville.....my son is almost 18 and this is probably the last summer I will get to do those type things.
ATTA BOY! Kurt. There's nothing like sitting on the couch in the evening talking to your son about what plan's do WE have for the truck. Keep up the good work, and add 1/2 quart, or less of trans fluid to your fuel tank every 2nd or 3rd fill. That will keep the diaphragm's and everything rubber from drying out after extended periods of rest.
Grant thanks for the tip on trans fluid and yeah it was fun listening to him, he even got me back out there to fix speedo. We discovered cable housing was damaged my dad thinks he his one in his shop, we can hope.
I agree, you showing your Son how to perform a task and then working with him is absolutely priceless. This is the age that many teens rebel ,so being buddies is so, so, special, and Hes learning things that He will be abel to use for the rest of his life. You are truly being blessed, enjoy.
