Hi All, this is actually a spinoff of the fuel pump question.
From the answers I've seen there may be more to the fuel pumps not shutting off on the 87 up Bronco's.
Mine, in tank and frame rail mount, have been running constantly at times. Last week the frame rail mounted one burnt out. I've replace the relay, which was bad, however, that was not the solution.
I had assumed that the crummy trailer wiring harness was at fault, by being shorted and thereby shorting the fuel pump harness. But, I havn't found any short.
I know the "computer" is supposed to turn off pumps after so many seconds. But there must be some problem that makes it "think" the engine is running and therefore keeps the pumps running.
ANY ideas?

The EEC uses the PIP signal (sensor inside the distributor) to determine if the engine is running and the pumps should stay on. If the relay stays on (keeping the pumps on), find the short to ground in the trigger wire from the relay to the EEC.
