fuel pump boost
Got a '90 F-250 W/ a 351w. It's always cut out & had no power since I've had it. It was owned by a real billy-bob and run into the ground. I re-built the engine & it still cuts out. Previous suggestions pointed to the FPR and the coil and filter. All were changed with no success. I installed a gauge on the fuel rail and it's running30 psi @ idle and 35 psi when the vacuum line is off. I hot wired the return line to a valve and shut it off. Front pump stalled @ 35psi. Rear @ 50. Obviously, the front pump is gone but the rear isn't all that healthy either. New pumps run $100-$130 each. plus there's the horror of pulling the tanks. I have a frame mounted pump from an '89. What if I installed it between the filter & the fuel rail? If that's too much, then maybe cutting the tank pump wires?
