I have a F350 2005 6L and it start last year after I had it at the shop for some repair to give me a P0234 over boost turbo code and an under boost plus a defective glow plug on Cyl 8.
I was at another shop and he suggest that it could me the MAP sensor. He delete the codes and he said to drive it again after the sensor was changed to see if I still have the same problem.
Well I did and I forgot to mention that it happen only when I pull a 600 lbs trailer over the mountains. Basically the engine kick in to a limp mode for 5 seconds or less them it goes back to normal. The wrench key appear and disappear as soon as I turn off and turn back on the engine.
The Mechanic suggest now to do a software update and I did myself some research and find out that it was a problem on the 2011 Firmware that ford has for a few months. I'm not sure if that's the one I have or it could be something else he can't do the upgrade but the guys who can charge about $170. Before I spend that money I will like to do some more research and convince myself that is a good chance than the software upgrade will fix the problem.
Each time I fix something that I think it could be I have to take the trailer for a 4 hrs drive each way just to verify and is getting expensive as a testing method.
I also want to do an EGR delete and install a coolant filter and get a SCT 3015 programmer to give a little more power when I taw but I have to make sure first I fix that turbo problem.
