Hinge Springs
I am replacing the hood hinge springs on my '53. The old ones came off easy by just grabbing the spring end with vise-grips. The new ones aren't as easy to handle. Anyone know a quick trick to get the new tighter springs back on?

That's the kind of thing I'm looking for, only for the coil spring (like a watch spring) on my hood hinges. I attempted to get a spring back on, and I thought that I had succeeded except that its two arms ended up in a wacky positions that could never work...or at least let me bolt it to the hood. I am amazed at the complexity of the hinge. Before I cleaned it, I had no idea that it had so many parts.
