Clutch issue

Ok so my 59 f100 has a 390fe and a np435 4 speed in it. For the clutch, im thinking of doing a newer (80-90's) mustang clutch style cable. Anyone have input on if this will work or not? A friend did this to his 66 mustang and it worked. But then again its a mustang with a newer style clutch cable... Idk either way im stumped as to a easier way to do this other then installing the clutch assembly from the pedal down to the tranny I have outa the 74 truck I got the tranny from.

Would something like this work?
