How does a thread disappear?

I started a thread yesterday about some stuff I found at PNP and now it's gone. I don't even see this thread in my personal history. I know I posted because I learned about steering wheels from NumberDummy and I have a PM history concerning the thread. I thought it may have gone to the Parts for sale section, but no dice. How does a thread disappear?

Someone probably posted something bad , i tried getting into the thread yesterday and it gave me a "you don't have the proper permissions " error

It was removed because it was a "for sale" ad in the tech forum. The rules do not allow for sale ads in the forums. You need to use the classifides to sell parts, etc...
