I've lost my speedometer and digital odometer on my 94' F150. It happened when I crossed a river yesterday. The water was only only ankle deep but somehow I have no speedometer or odometer. The tach still works so I know fast I'm going. How do I fix this? I know it's connected to the transmission, but what do you think I should do?
The speed sensor is not connected to your tranny. It's on the rear end. Look at the 3rd member- on the top and front- just above the pinion. Did your ABS light come on also?
What does this give me steve? We think it's a problem in the rear end. It's just not showing, I don't want to calibrate something that isn't even showing up on the screen!
I had a similar problem a few years ago... One of the exhaust pipes broke off and cut the wire going to the rear dif.
The odometer and speedometer didn't work, and it wouldn't shift out of 1st gear (automatic trans...)
Took a bit to figure it out, but with a bit of solder and tape everything worked fine...
You might have gotten something wet, shorted or broked connection.... They recommended replacing the entire cable but was going to cost $$$, so I just patched it up.

You mean the odometer display is dead? That's either a power supply problem or the whole PSOM is dead. The '92~94 PSOMs are known to be failure-prone, and some even cause engine trouble.
Frig. O.k Listen here people. My truck is a 1994 F-150. Underneath the speedo is a DIGITAL ODOMETER. It has digital numbers just like the ones on your digital watch. My numbers don't show up, and I was just wondering if anyone knew why.
Sounds like an issue with the PSOM not the wire to the speedo, the sensor, or the rear end. If it were any of those, the odometer would still display numbers. You'll have to replace it unless it can be fixed. PSOM is programable speedometer/odometer module.
