Thank you all fo the warm wlecome. Since you've offered, I am looking for a solution to a problem that just cropped up.
With the engine running, all gagues read normally however I hear a metalic thump ot "tink" that causes the voltmeter to drop and then come right back up. To me it sounds like a relay or solenoid that keeps disengaging causing the voltmeter to fluctuate. It happens on a fairly consistent 20 -30 second interval. I am thinking that it could be a bad voltage regulator which I understand Ford still mounted outside of the alternator.
If anyone else has any thoughts, they would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the voltage regulator is in the alternator, and is all electronic, so no relays there..... How ever the later trucks seem to be full of other relays....
I have one thought, a friend had a motor home several years ago that did almost the same thing, his turned out to be the charging relay for the "house" battery.. The battery was shot and it would load up and try to charge but the load would kick it out, the best I remember the battery had an internal short.. Replaced the battery and all was good from then on...
Have you tried to locate the clicking relay? If you could find it you might be able to trace the wiring from it to see what is messed up.
