Door locks

My '73 was great because I could just push down the lock button and slam the door. When I got my '71 F-100, I tried that and watched the lock button pop right back up when the door shut. So I figured that I must need to hold the button in while I shut the door. But of course, that doesn't work either.

THe only way I can lock the doors from the outside is by using the key!

Is this right? And is there a way to modify this so it acts more like my 73 did?

you want to possibly lock your keys in your truck? you can probably swap cylinders in, or it could be a good time to convert to keyless entry

I swapped all three cylinders when I bought the truck for other reasons.

Besides, I can't think of why you would think that would help. Perhaps an unhelpful wild *** guess is the only way you can post that unsolicited photo of your air cleaner.

Anyone actually know, maybe by experience what I'm talking about?

Thanks anyway....

That's the way they work on our year trucks, it was a "feature".

Have no experience in converting it.

Thanks. I was actually looking for responses from people who might know how to do it, not the ones who don't.

But thank you anyways.

well if your too lazy to use the keys to lock your door why are you wasting your time crying to us about it? go to a U-pull-it and take all the hardware out of a door that works the way you want it to and swap it in your door better answer?

Thanks, Peter.

I'll give that a shot next time I use the truck.

Oh, and badboyina67 I don't get your drift! If you think a post like that is *helpful*, then I think that you need to reread your own post, cause your saying one thing and doing another. Get *my* drift?

And for you FE427TP, Yeah, that answer *is* better than your last, but it still shows me that you don't know what you're talking about. With the type of replies that you hand out, you're absolutely right! Posting here might just be wasting my time.

Have a nice day every one.

Next thing you'll probably all do is call me a Chevy owner, jeez...

I'd rather not call you anything but "Gone". You are simply, rude. Take it somewhere else. If you have not noticed, there is very little negative conversation at this forum, and I like it that way. There is plenty of negative retoric available at other sites.

Hey, Peter. Your suggestion doesn't work. I admit that I was a bit skeptical when I read it, but thought I would try it to be sure.

Thanks anyway.

GTex, Wake up. I'm not the one starting this. I'm not the one calling people names. I ask a simple question and get replies that are unhelpful and childish. Even your reply has nothing to do with the thread, (door locks)?

And I really don't need your suggestions on where to go. I think that I'll stick around here, and I will post replies that I see are appropriate to the replies I get from the people here.

Yeah Guys just give him the information he wants....then we can all laugh at him when he post's the thread titled "Locked Keys in truck, how to get them out?"

Junior, You had better get a little more than 70 post's under your belt before you think you can criticise other peoples replies.

Okay, This stops right now !

There is one important thing that I learned early in life.

It isn't how someone says something, or what they say, it is how the other person takes it.

Because of the medium we're in >

What we are dealing with here is a group of people who can't see another person's eyes & the tone in their voice when they are typing.

Let's every body count to ten and then THINK
R E S P E C T for one another.

We like to think that FTE is a above all other web sites when it comes to Respecting one another.

Now, on a technical side, these older trucks have unique things attached to them.
Locking the doors while holding the push button in, is one of them.

I have never seen a swap of 73+ technology swapped into a pre-73.

Alfetta.

To be a service to mankind of Ford owners.
I would suggest getting one set of door closures parts and and tinker with it, possibly write a tech article, send it in to us and we'll send you an FTE t-shirt for your work.

Now, no more verbal diarherra.
