I've been in CO since the beginning of May and explored a lot of the area, even with the 2012 empty ramming around in the mountains the 3rd and 4th gears seem to be the best in the higher elevations, that is locking 5th and 6th out. When descending the mountains it's usually 3rd with cruise set and never having to touch the brakes, like you said sit back and enjoy the scenery, a lot of beautiful country in this state.

Getting ready to hook the '08' up to the 5th wheel and move towards western SD for a month then decide if I should run for the west coast for winter and work my way towards AZ. Or just go south and explore AZ and surrounding areas. Snow is starting to get old in the east.

Great review rvpuller, glad to see truck is working out like the va10 did, i would have to agree on the gears get the 430 if you have a choice in the matter then if not 373 will work just have to drop a gear or so lower.
Happy trails guys

We don't do winter any more we will be heading to the Grand Canyon, California NP, AZ for 3 months, Mexico for a month and Texas before we head back to our home base in late April.

I'm re-thinking this. Maybe the guy who designed this motor knows what he's talking. He does say think horse power not torque with this motor.

6.2L Gas
HP 385 @ 5500
TQ 405 @ 4500

With a 32.5 diameter tire, 3.73's and 2.318 second gear we see 5363 RPM @ 60 MPH.
With a 32.5 diameter tire, 4.30's and 1.516 third__ gear we see 4043 RPM @ 60 MPH.

After getting back from our trip I can say that my empty mileage had dropped, this thing is just to fun to drive. I now have heavy right foot, I love the sound of this thing going through the gears

Must agree, good ol 90 degree v8. I don't want to mess with the exhaust, I like the way it sounds but if I need to the Son-in-law put Corsa on his Raptor and that's the only one I would do.

We had a good discussion on another forum and someone plotted out the gear ratios on a spread sheet... look on this thread halfway down the page

I'm heading to the Mississippi river tomorrow and 797ft altitude. Trading my Rockwood on a 2014 Cougar 326SRX fifth wheel toy hauler. Will be interesting to see the power change as I drop altitude. Even more interesting to see it change on the return trip with an extra 4000lb,s of trailer behind me.

Jeff

Where can I get 91 octane on us30 across Nebraska and Iowa?
