Goes from max to min line on degaus bottle every couple months. No puking or white residue. Going to pull egr tonight and see if damp. Anything else to check besides obvious leaks at hoses/radiator/etc?
It's true, Ford would even put a new sticker on the bottle if you took the truck in for anything. If you're not losing coolant past the min line and the EGR is dry, then put a new cap on the degas bottle and call it good.
Yup, my coolant usually sits right at the minimum line, or slightly below. I know a few guys whose sit like 1" below, itll just puke out til it gets where its happy
i have a 05' and mine would sit just at the new min or below. i had to replace oil cooler last year at 88k miles. NOW i noticed that my degas tank was about empty. no smoke, no temp problems, and no power issues. dealer found excessive gas levels in the bottle when road testing. was told it was the beginning stages of head gasket failure. due to repair next week with ARP stud kit. not sure if dealer is blowing smoke but i dont want to take chances with my baby

Coolant is going somewhere. That is the likely cause.

If you mean excessive PRESSURE levels in the degas bottle, then yes, that's considered an early warning sign of either a blown EGR cooler or failed headgaskets. The techs might can be more specific than I can, but what I know is that 15+psi in the degas means one of the two is leaking. Quick test is to park nose down and pull the EGR valve, check for wetness/standing liquid in the intake; that points to failed EGR cooler. Fuel in the degas is typically cracked heads. Increased degas bottle pressure and a dry intake is usually the head gaskets.
If you're getting the gaskets replaced, insist on the shop taking the heads to get leveled and checked for cracks. Warped and cracked heads are the leading cause of repeat head gasket failures, so putting in studs is worthless if you're reinstalled heads that are damaged. Shouldn't be a problem at a dealer, but also insist on stock gaskets, not anything aftermarket.
