I have a '00 Limited 4x4 7.3 that I would like to add lights to. I was original thinking of just one set of 55w street legal white driving lights.
I have a better understanding of what is legal (Calif) but I am thinking of maybe going with one set of amber fogs 55w hooked to the low beams and a set of 100w white driving lights hooked to go with the high beams.
The guys at the regional Ford forum here were very helpful as to what is legal but this is more a Excursion question. Can my stock Excursion handle those two light sets without further modification? If not, what would I need to do?
If your charging system is in good condition, it can handle those lights. Make sure you run everything through relays, and pull your 12V right from a battery. I have a pair of 130wt long range driving lights in my grill, and they are the catz azz on open desert roads. I have them so they can only come on with high beams. I also cut in a master off switch for them for times when I need high beams, but don't want to blind oncoming traffic.

You have an up close picture of them with the lights off? Curious to see how they look in the grill...
Will have my kid help me post the pictures - I will take before and after shots. That is a great job on the grill and actually came back online to ask if there was a close-up. That is a great job. Looks like it was meant to be there. Do you cover them?
No, I don't cover them. I use them as my daytime flash to pass lights(another benefit of wiring to high beams), as my headlights are HID and the warm up time makes them about useless for that. Never had an issue, but also careful as to where they're used so as to not draw any unwanted attention. My truck's just a grocery getter.
Thanks for the compliments. Looking forward to your pictures.
Thanks Stewart, I will pop on that link in a sec. Love that racing Excursion!!! Have to share this with my best friend. He had a Explorer then and said WHY do you need something THAT big?!? Within three years he traded his Explorer in on an Excursion . . . BTW - You have the color I really wanted but when I went "shopping" there were four in Northern California. Black, White (2), and a beauty-challenged burnt orange. I took the black one, because I could not wait. Thanks again. Angelo
p.s. I have NEVER seen that ugly orange one on the road - think it was a one-off, hahahaha.
While my Ex is the same color, that rig in the pics at the race track is actually Williams Excursion.
I race my diesels at the track, but I've never had my Excursion down the 1/4 mile (aka, The 1320...hence the poke at William about him joking about it only being a grocery getter) because the Ex is the wife's daily driver rig.
Hahaha . . . some of those sales can get unruly so having something BIG & fast could be a big help. Well I should have noticed it did NOT have your lights in the grill too . . .
