i have a 1997 f 150 4.6l, 145k miles, it seems that very slowly it is loosing coolant but i haven't noticed any leaks, it also burn about a quart of oil every 3000 miles but i was told that was normal, any ideas?
i would guess it is a crack or pin hole in one head gasket. Being that age you might not be interested in a high dollar repair. IF that is the case, try a bottle of BARS copper gasket repair / head repair/ sealer. You can get it at Auto Zone for about $10. I prefer the copper liquid, not the aluminum or oily stuff. Take off the upper radiator hose, pour it in and just drive as normall. If will probably seal up in a couple days.
I had a head gasket leak about december one year and needed to get to spring to fix it. I tried the Bars Leak Copper and it worked great. So good that i did not do the repair the next spring... started to leak again 1 year later. I flushed the system and put new antifreeze and another BARS leak in the radiator. Did that 3 times for 3 years.
i see, well i definitely cant afford to put head gaskets in it, may do the bars and sell it. its unfortunate because the truck is perfect and insanely clean
