Anybody know where or what trucks can be raided to get a set of 8 lug 16 inch steel wheels . We need the wheels with the bumps on the inside so we can use original hubcaps and the beauty rings. I have looked in the wrecking yard but all retainers on the wheels seem to be on the outside . Thanks!!
I have a couple of 16" wheels, 8 lug that came with the truck. Never really looked very close at them to see if they were worth anything or not. I can get some pics this weekend if you want, but shipping from South Ga. might be expensive.
The wheel you want is K-H #31282, 16" x 6" with "innie" nubs measuring 8.844" across, and 8 x 6.5" pattern. I can cross reference it to the Ford #7RD 1015-B from 1948 through 1958, with a NWRA cross reference #X40099. But then multiple references get fuzzy and mix it up with K-H #43552 and NWRA X45046 which would be the "outie" wheel. Maybe Bill (ND) can pull something out of his vast reference library. Stu
I am Looking for 19.5 or 22.5 wheels for my 1948 F6, I currently have the old widow makes on there now, I was told that Chucks truck parts can make new wheels using your old center, then welding the entire center to the new wheel....$375.00 ea. wheel, plus shipping both ways....There's Gotta be something a little more affordable? Anyone know of any alternatives...I may try Bud wheels in some local junkyards?
I see that you live in WA. One of our members who lives in MT has available both 19.5” and 22.5” sets last I knew. I’ll text him and ask him to comment. Stu
