Help quick!!!!!!!!! My interior lights on my 97 F 150 will not go out, I have slammed all the doors hundreds of times. Key is not in the switch and interior light switch is not on. Sometimes it acts like it is on a timer and other times it just will not go out, until I slam the doors countless times.
Help quick..........thanks
where are the push connectors? I can't find one anywhere. Is the black bar at the front of the door in the jam the switch?? I am used to the old time push connectors on the back side of the jam.
If you push the pin switch at the front of the door jamb (near the hinges), does the light go out? If so, unscrew it, remove the electrical connector, and use a set of channel-locks to push the brass sleeve back out thru the steel hex body so that the black pin sticks out as far as possible. Reinstall it (with the connector ) and close the door. As the door closes, it automatically resets the depth of the brass sleeve.

were you able to solve your wiring problem(door ajar lite and interior dome)? I just purchased a '98 f 150 with the same exact problem. I have'nt looked into it yet and was wondering if you had any input

The new body style is known to have that problem. The switches for the courtesy lights are inside the door catch mechanisms, inside the doors. Some people have fixed them by spraying oil (like WD-40 or Liquid Wrench) into the mechanism and operating it to clear the grit; others have had to do more work.
