exhausting exhaust
i have a 95 F-250 with a 351 auto tranny and 4 wheel drive. I want to get more power from my engine. It seems that if i ask 5 muffler shops how to achieve this i get 6 responses and all different so tell me 1. original equipment cat converter good or bad
2. is a high flow cat better ( i was told that the 351 needs the back pressure to run properly )
3. mufflers which brand what size
thanx to any and all who respond and keep on truckin'

i have an 88 f250, 351w, c6 auto 4x4. put on a 3" single exiting in stock location. use a 3" high flow cat and a 3" high flow muffler. My muffler came from a RV application - can't remember brand. it sounds nice and runs great. do not worry about "back pressure" until you get bigger than 3". it is not about back-pressure anyway if you do some research on posts here. i put the 3" on from the "y" all the way back. did it in stainless steel too. cost about $500 US. been on over a year now and am really happy with it.
hope that helps a little.

Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Sunroof, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds
.Check out my Gallery for a look-see.
Then theres:
99' Mustang GT 4.6L
88' F-250 Superduty 4x4 351/c6
95' Mercury Cougar 4.6L V-8
80' E-350 300/6 with a
3 spd column shifter. Top speed is 65mph, Go Baby Go!
i took the oportunity and cut my exhaust pipe just before the stock muffler and left it at that for now
i am amazed by the difference in mid range power. usually i would have to give it more than a little extra gas to go up a hill at a reasonable speed - today i went up the same hill and hardly used the gas at all. the noise is not all that bad i guess the stock cat muffles the noise a bit anyways i will be experimenting some more in the near future and i will keep posting
thanx to any one who touches base
