Several weeks ago I posted a question. " Why does my 351 W keep shredding the dizzy gear?" Well I got a lot of support from you all but no one seem to have the answer. Well I figured it out. I spun the oil pump in a clockwise rotation to check for drag and it almost killed my cordless drill. So then I spun it by hand and it felt very hard to turn. Changed out the oil pump and pick up due to large amounts of sludge in it. has been just fine. Just a heads up if you ever get one that does that. I've been a mechanic for 39 years and first time for that one. Thanks to all for your feedback.
good call, being that you had been running the correct gear to begin with we should have gone to that conclusion dang. makes complete sense to be honest with ya.
FYI.. The correct rotation for the oilpump and distributor on a 351w is counter clockwise.
I caught that right away, but I figured he spun it CW on purpose, so that it would NOT pump oil up, so he could feel the drag of the pump itself, without the load of the oil being pumped up. That's what I figured, anyway
